This tour has been rewarding on many levels. We are half way now, traveling east. I'm looking forward to these new cities and new stories. Conversation has been open some nights, and a bit reserved on others, but always unique. Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Canada are on the horizon. We'll see what they have to tell us.
I've been working on a new song. I was running down a county road in Mississippi last week and heard a couple screaming at each other. Maybe it was nothing, but I got to thinking... What was their story? Here's what I have so far:
Tell me, little sister, if he's good to you
Why you hidin with shades drawn down past noon?
Sirens blaring cross the air last night police man tappin his flashlight
On your door
"What's goin on, son? Had my eye on you.
Just got a call, ain't nothin new..."
"Swear to God, mister, we talkin it through
Lovers quarrel and that's the truth."
My eyes are open
Don't have to see a violent hand
To know you're broken
down spirit by a no good man
His lies are falling
On the ears of a desperate land
You got to go on
down the road while you still can
Run away, little sister
Thanks for reading. Thanks for listening. Much love.
